About Me
I am a Year 5 class teacher at Cwm Glas Primary School in Swansea, currently on secondment working across the cluster to develop the DCF, STEM and the New Curriculum for Wales.
After studying a BA degree in Sports Studies and Health & Exercise at Trinity College Carmarthen, I decided to complete a PGCE at the same institute (Now part of the University of Wales Trinity St David). I qualified as a teacher in 2009 and began to work as a supply teacher in the September.
I started by working all over Swansea, Llanelli and Neath, and ended up gaining a employment for a few days a week here and there. After a few temporary contracts to cover maternity leave and to cover staff absence, I applied for the job at my current school.
I was lucky enough to be successful and began to work in a Year 1 and 2 class, and was made the Co-ordinator for PE due to my background in Physical Education. I really enjoyed the first year and loved the fact that I had my own class and could plan my own activities and not just be left work my somebody else.
At the end of the first year, I was asked would I be happy to move to Year 5. I was more than happy and that is where I have been since. I was always interested in using technology in the classroom and tried my best to incorporate ICT as much as possible to develop the abilities and engagement of the children.
